Brent Baker
Managing Director
Mr. Baker was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1948 and currently resides in Cumming, Georgia. Mr. Baker received a degree in Banking and Finance from Palm Beach College in 1978. He was awarded diplomas by the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, The National Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma, and The National Installment Credit School at the University of Colorado.
Prior to 1991, Mr. Baker spent 22 years as a commercial banker. He served in various middle management and executive management positions including Group President, North Atlanta, for First Union National Bank (now Wells Fargo), Atlanta, Georgia; President and CEO of Roswell Bank, Roswell, Georgia; and Central Division Manager of First Georgia Bank, Atlanta, Georgia. In 1991 he and two associates founded Southeast Bank Services, Inc., a company that provided credit related consulting services to banks and multi-bank holding companies including originating and packaging SBA 7(a) and 504 loans for its clients and assisting its clients with the establishment of their own SBA loan departments. In 1996, Mr. Baker and another founder of Southeast Bank Services, Inc. sold their interests in that company and formed Banc Services Corporation with Mr. Baker serving as President and CEO. Banc Services Corporation was formed to engage in bank consulting services, including de novo bank organization. Over time, the demand for de novo bank consulting services grew rapidly and that became the main focus of the business. In 2002 the business was re-organized as Brent Baker, Inc.
Brent Baker, Inc., and Banc Services Corporation before it, assisted with the organization of more than two dozen banks in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas comprising a mix of successful national and state chartered institutions. The company also consulted on mergers and acquisitions, having originated and assisted in the negotiation of several successful acquisitions. In 2010, Mr. Baker, along with CIB co-founder and Managing Director Chuck Shultz, founded CIB Partners.
Mr. Baker has served on numerous bank boards and as chairman of one institution.
Mr. Baker and his wife, Dorothy, have two grown sons and five grandchildren.
Charles "Chuck" Shultz
Emeritus Managing Director*
Mr. Shultz was born in Fremont, Ohio in 1950 and currently resides in Milton, Georgia. He received a Bachelor of Science, Business degree from Miami University (Ohio) in 1972.
Prior to 2001, Mr. Shultz’s career involved the entertainment industry. He joined Cosmos Broadcasting Corp. in 1972 as accounting manager of its television station in Toledo, Ohio and in 1974 was promoted to business manager of the company’s radio and television stations in Columbia, South Carolina. He joined Rounsaville Radio, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, in 1976 as a financial vice president. In 1979 Mr. Shultz began a 22 year association with Turner Broadcasting System when he became Controller of SuperStation TBS, now the TBS cable network. His responsibilities later included financial accounting and budgetary oversight of Turner’s advertising sales, program sales, and programming divisions. In 1984 he was named Vice President Business Affairs, Entertainment Companies and began to travel extensively working with the company’s programming and production partners in the United States and abroad. He oversaw financial and business affairs for the 1986 Moscow and the 1990 Seattle Goodwill Games. In the 1990’s he became Senior Vice President Business Affairs of the company’s music production, publishing and soundtrack distribution interests. In 2001 he retired from Turner but has remained active as a business consultant and investor.
In 2004, Mr. Shultz formed a consulting business, later known as Summit Business Services, LLC, to advise clients on a variety of matters including initial organization, capitalization, borrowing, management and transactional matters. In 2006 that company began collaborating with Brent Baker, Inc. in advising de novo bank organizing groups and advising banks concerning re-capitalization, mergers/acquisitions, and operational matters. In 2010, Mr. Shultz, along with CIB co-founder and Managing Director Brent Baker, founded CIB Partners.
Mr. Shultz was a founding director of several Georgia Banks including NorthSide Bank, a three location Northwest Georgia community bank headquartered in Adairsville, Georgia that merged with First National Community Bank, Chattsworth, Georgia in 2019. Prior to the merger, Mr. Shultz served as Chairman of NorthSide Bank and it's holding company, NorthSide Bancshares, Inc.
Mr. Shultz has been active in various civic and professional organizations including serving as a director of the Broadcast/Cable Financial Management Association and the Atlanta chapter of the Institute of Management Accounting and as founding chairman of Advance Adairsville, a civic organization dedicated to promoting the interests of the greater Adairsville, Georgia community.
Mr. Shultz and his wife, Jana, are the parents of four grown children, two sons and two daughters, all of whom reside in metro Atlanta.
